Fixed price
Fixed price equals 1 price and 1 deadline.
In Belgium we're one of very few companies who actually work in fixed price mode. Most work is done on a time & material basis. Apparently, most companies prefer monthly billing for riskless work instead of a true challenge. Needless to say ... we prefer a challenge.
Why do we like the challenge?
Because it is in our nature ... we claim to be the best developers and
we want to prove it. In fixed price mode you have to perform; there's
no hiding, no excuses, no nothing. If the work is not done right and on time
... we lose money.
So from the very beginning we
had to focus on our ability to execute. This implied optimizing our
technical and operational skills. We had to find a way to control the
complex process of software development.
And we have succeeded. Fixed price mode is our second nature. On this
site we show the way we work, how we work and the results we obtain.
And if you want to learn it yourself ... give us a call.
How does it work?
Our customers come to us with a request for proposal. Most of the time
they have a rather general idea of what they want. I'm sure you all
have seen functional designs written down on a few slates of paper. We
are used to that.
We then quote to draw up the
functional design. For projects of a few 1000 hours this is not too
difficult. We have a vast experience and an enormous amount of
historical data to help us out.
After creating the (initial) functional design, we have a clear view on
the work to be done. We put workhours against the use cases in the
analysis and we have our fixed price quote. If you want to know how it
goes from there on ... read our section on methodology.
